Manuel de la Cerra

As a Southern California native, Manuel de la Cerra has established strong ties to the local legal and business communities. He has dedicated his career to intellectual property as a registered patent attorney licensed to practice before the California and Massachusetts State Bars. He honed his intellectual property practice as an attorney with Lyon & Lyon, LLP and Paul Hastings, LLP. He also has significant in-house experience from his position as intellectual property litigation counsel with Kyocera Wireless Corporation. Mr. de la Cerra focuses his legal practice primarily in patents, including client counseling, patent portfolio strategy, patent licensing, patent litigation and patent prosecution.

Mr. de la Cerra's education further complements his practice. He holds engineering degrees from Stanford, MIT and UCSD and a law degree from USC. In 1993, as the youngest in his class at the age of 20, he received his B.S. degree from MIT, graduating fourth in his class and with distinction in the Tau Beta Pi engineering society. After MIT, he obtained a J.D. from U.S.C. in 1996, again the youngest in his class. He went on to Stanford for a M.S. in civil and environmental engineering in 1997. And finally, he obtained a M.S. in electrical engineering from the University of California at San Diego in 2003, focusing on applied physics and semiconductor design. His extensive education in engineering allows Mr. de la Cerra to be proficient in many highly technical areas. The contacts he made during these studies continue to provide him with a network of associates experienced in several different industries. This offers Mr. de la Cerra several sources to call upon for expertise as well as allowing him to remain current with trends and technologies in a wide variety of fields. Mr. de la Cerra is also an inventor, and is married with a young son.
